Linking out to an online gambling service YouTube treats as unapproved or uncertified, including links in descriptions, pinned comments, or on screen overlays.
Mentioning an unapproved online gambling service by name, showing its logo, or showing it on screen, even if you do not include a clickable link. This tightened with the March 19, 2025 enforcement change.
Promising outcomes: guaranteed returns, risk free wins, or any line that implies the viewer cannot lose. YouTube lists guaranteed returns as not allowed, even regardless of whether a site is certified.
Anything that routes viewers into gambling with digital goods that have monetary value, like skins or NFTs, especially when the content directs viewers to places where that gambling happens. This is called out in the November 17, 2025 enforcement update.
What is explicitly restricted
Directing viewers to uncertified online gambling sites in any form, including external links and verbally directing users to other sites. YouTube states this policy applies to videos, descriptions, comments, live streams, and other features.
Content that promises guaranteed returns via online gambling, regardless of whether the site is certified or not.
Under the March 19, 2025 change, creators cannot mention or show logos of unapproved online gambling services or link to them, and YouTube also added age restrictions to more gambling content.
Under the November 17, 2025 update, YouTube strengthened enforcement around online gambling content involving digital goods with monetary value, including skins and NFTs, with a strong focus on link outs and direction to those services.
What is usually allowed with conditions
On YouTube, the safest pattern is content that informs without pushing a fast click to a gambling destination.
Typical lower risk patterns, when executed carefully:
How it works explainers: game mechanics, odds, terms, common misunderstandings, and what the user should know before participating.
Clear terms and risk clarity: factual bonus explanations, what conditions apply, and responsible framing, without implying profit.
Content that avoids directing to uncertified or unapproved services, and does not use logos or on screen prompts that function like ads for those services.
Planning for age restriction impact: YouTube may age restrict more gambling related content even when it does not violate policy, which affects reach and conversion paths.
Safer alternatives that still perform
Build the video around learning, not urgency. Aim for “here is what this is” and “here is what to watch for,” not “go do this now.” It reduces the pressure language that triggers enforcement and it still builds intent.
Treat link outs as optional, not central. If the campaign dies without the link, it is too fragile for YouTube. Design a version that still works if links are removed or comments are limited. YouTube explicitly applies the policy to external links and even verbal directions.
Replace outcome claims with verifiable statements. If an influencer says “guaranteed returns,” you are in the danger zone. Replace it with factual language about rules, volatility, and limits.
Separate operator promotion from education. If the operator cannot be safely shown, named, or linked due to unapproved status, shift to education that stands alone, then choose a permitted distribution plan elsewhere. The March 19, 2025 change is why this split matters.
Avoid digital goods gambling funnels entirely. If there is any chance the flow touches skins, cosmetics, or NFTs used for gambling, treat it as a high risk category and remove link driven CTAs.
YouTube influencers brief checklist
Do not link to any online gambling service that is not certified, and do not direct viewers to it verbally. This includes descriptions, pinned comments, overlays, and spoken prompts.
Do not promise outcomes. Remove guaranteed, risk free, always wins, “you cannot lose,” and similar claims.
Follow the March 19, 2025 enforcement change: no mention, logo, or link to unapproved online gambling services.
Plan for age restriction impact on distribution and performance. Build a campaign that still makes sense if reach is reduced.
Avoid any funnel that promotes online gambling involving digital goods with monetary value, including skins and NFTs, especially with link outs.
QA checklist before publish: scan the entire surface area, description, pinned comment, end screens, cards, overlays, and any spoken link directions.
